Testimonials
I bless the day I entered the home. I suppose I could stop here and just say, “Everything is fine and perfectly splendid”, but let me share with you some of the things that happen here.
My first reaction when I came to visit the Home was one of being welcome and of warmth and friendliness. Accompanying me was one of my four sons and my daughter and we were immediately introduced to all the residents in the lounge. One or two of them said “are you coming here to join us?” to which at the time I could only say, “well, it all depends if they will have me”.
I can now say how proud and privileged I am to be living here and I take every opportunity to let people know of the fine work going on here.
Far from being somewhere where you can just rest and relax, sometimes you can be called on to face “small” challenges. For instance, my confidence had sunk so low that I thought would never again be able to put two words together on paper to make any sense, and here I am trying to do just that. Thanks to the Manor I’m waking up again and feeling of some small use. This is typical of the Home - you are encouraged “to have a go” and I have nothing but praise for all the staff for their compassion, affection, smiles, good humor, sheer kindliness and true professionalism. One can have complete faith in them, whatever the circumstances.
The spiritual needs of all denominations of the Christian faith are fully catered for here at the Home on a regular basis, also singers come sometimes to join us in prayers, hymns and arrangements can be made if required for residents to be taken to services in the local church or chapel.
There are many forms of entertainment, such as chairobics (keep fit), bingo, card games, and an art session run by Maggie, a weekly quiz, and library books which are regularly changed, to give us different choices. We enjoy regular visits of the hairdresser and the chiropodist and the staff members keep our finger nails neat and trim with manicure sessions. We are kept up to date with a monthly calendar with delightfully illustrated so we know what is going to happen. Oh, we go short of nothing at Hinstock Manor, which brings me to “food”. The food is excellent, nourishing, varied and well presented, always bearing in mind certain diets, preferences, etc. Need I say more?
Before I close, I want to mention about the freedom we have in moving about the Home, either choosing to be in the lounge or in your own room, and the residents are encouraged to take advantage of offers of outside interests with family and friends.
We are all so, so lucky,
